ROI (Return on Investment)

A performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency or profitability of an investment in Artificial Intelligence technologies relative to its cost.

Explanation

In the context of AI, ROI measures the financial and operational benefits gained from implementing AI solutions compared to the total cost of ownership (TCO). This includes hardware, software, data acquisition, talent, and maintenance. Calculating AI ROI can be complex because benefits often include intangible assets like improved customer experience, faster decision-making, and enhanced innovation, alongside direct cost savings and revenue growth. Organizations typically look for both short-term gains and long-term strategic value when assessing the success of AI initiatives.
